Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: May 2026
Welcome to Journey to Plate. By using our website and services, you agree to the following terms. We have kept them simple because we believe in transparency and community.
1. Our Services
Journey to Plate provides coaching and information related to gardening, seasonal cooking, and sustainability. This is a collaborative journey. While we provide the expertise (via humans and AI), the implementation and the results in your garden or kitchen are ultimately up to you.
2. No Professional Advice Guarantee
Nature is unpredictable! Please keep the following in mind:
-
Agricultural: We cannot guarantee that seeds will sprout or plants will survive. Factors like weather, soil, and local pests are beyond our control.
-
Health & Nutrition: Our cooking and preserving tips are for educational purposes. If you have specific allergies or medical conditions, please consult a doctor. Always double-check any plant's identity before eating it.
3. Use of AI Coaching
Our AI Coach is designed to provide quick, helpful guidance. However, AI can sometimes make mistakes. We recommend cross-referencing AI suggestions with our human experts or your own research, especially when it comes to pest management or food safety. If you receive a suggestion from our AI Coach that you believe is unsafe or incorrect, you have the right to flag it for human administrator review by emailing hello@journeytoplate.com.
4. User Conduct and Community Guidelines
To maintain a safe and productive environment, you agree to the following:
-
Prohibited Content: You will not post or share any material that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, or otherwise objectionable.
-
Purpose of Use: This platform is for personal growth and learning about food systems. Using our community or coaching features for spamming, unauthorized advertising, or soliciting other users is strictly prohibited.
-
Respectful Interaction: You must treat our human experts and other community members with respect. We reserve the right to terminate access to our services for any user who engages in bullying, harassment, or disrespectful behavior.
5. Payments and Cancellations
If you book a session with our coaches:
-
Payments: Handled securely via Wix.
-
Cancellations: Please give us 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule so our experts can adjust their schedules.
6. Personal Responsibility & Safety
By using Journey to Plate, you explicitly acknowledge that gardening, cooking, and food preservation involve inherent physical risks. You agree to the following:
-
Your Choice of Expert: You are responsible for selecting the coaching sessions (Gardening, Cooking, Composting, etc.) that match your physical abilities and skill level.
-
Cooking & Food Safety: You are solely responsible for your own kitchen safety. This includes the use of sharp tools and high heat. Regarding Pickling and Preservation: Improper techniques can lead to foodborne illness (such as botulism). You are responsible for ensuring equipment is sterilized and safety protocols are followed.
-
Gardening & Nature: Gardening involves physical labor, tools, and exposure to the elements. You assume all risk for injuries, stings, or strains. Plant Identification is your responsibility: Never consume any plant or mushroom unless you have 100% confirmed it is edible. Journey to Plate is not liable for illness from misidentified plants.
-
Limitation of Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, Journey to Plate and its founder shall not be liable for any personal injury, property damage, or health issues arising from your DIY activities. This limitation of liability applies to all content, whether generated by our human coaches or our AI coach. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the specific coaching session in question.
7. Changes to Terms
As we grow, these terms might change. We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page whenever we make a shift.
8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding relating to your access to, or use of, the Service shall be instituted in the state or federal courts located in Erie County, New York.
